Zuma Bollards is rooted in the legacy of two leading California-based, family-run manufacturing businesses; Jackson-Markus Supply and Calpipe Security Bollards.
Calpipe was the first US manufacturer to offer a complete line of safety and security bollards, paving the way for incorporating aesthetic design into life-saving products. and design professionals working to safeguard public spaces and innovate security technology.
1917
In 1917, Peter Markus founded Jackson-Markus Supply, a Los Angeles based company that manufactured and distributed industrial piping and construction materials. manufacturing businesses; Jackson-Markus Supply and Calpipe Security Bollards.
1960's
The family expanded into stainless steel and nickel alloy weld fittings, servicing a rapidly growing market in refining, petrochemical, food processing, aerospace, and infrastructure.
1960's
Dan Markus founded Calpipe Industries, Inc. Calpipe manufactured electrical conduit systems, becoming the industry-leading supplier of stainless steel raceway systems.
1998
In 1998, Calpipe began manufacturing fixed bollards after recognizing the opportunity to utilize existing processes and machinery required to fabricate conduit systems.
2000-2010
Calpipe continued to innovate and expand its product offering as the demand for security products and bollards rapidly increased in a post 9/11 world. Working with security experts, Calpipe designed and produced high-security and crash-rated bollards to meet the increased need for protecting pedestrians and public spaces.
Calpipe Security Bollards instantly became recognized as the leading brand in the industry with the most complete line of high security, retractable and removable bollards.
2016
As a result of their success in the perimeter defense market, Calpipe Industries, Inc. was acquired by Atkore International.
2018
Dylan Markus, son of Calpipe’s founder Dan Markus, co-founded Zuma Lighting – a Los Angeles based manufacturer offering a complete line of outdoor lighting solutions for commercial applications.
As Zuma Lighting continued to grow, Dylan recognized the opportunity to provide quality bollard products to an overlapping customer base, utilizing existing supply chains and commercial networks.
Present Day
Zuma Bollards brought onboard industry expert Carlos Gonzalez. Carlos brings over 15 years of experience to the company, with a strong background in consulting for local and federal government agencies. His expertise is critical in identifying and implementing the best solutions to protect the most vulnerable spaces.
Today, we are proud and excited to continue the legacy of expertise, design and value in the competitive bollard market. As the Zuma brand grows, we continuously expand our team of manufacturers and engineers.
